Gabriel Leger (1978) is a French visual artist who lives and works between Paris and Athens. Nourished by historical and literary references, his work engages with the concept of time, and with the ways we interpret and emotionally relate to it. He is particularly interested in the visual or cultural fragments from the past that persist, reappear, and resonate in the present.

He uses materials with strong connotations such as bitumen, honey, wax, as well as ancient artefacts. Representative of his work are Deep Time (2020), a contemporary production of 7000 amulets from ancient Egyptian moulds; The One is the All (2020), a recreation of a Egyptian beer with authentic 3rd century wheat, or Le miroir d’un moment (2016-20), a series of repolished bronze mirrors from Antiquity.

His work has been featured in solo exhibitions in France (Sator Gallery since 2012, Musée des Arts & Métiers, 2015) and Germany (Michael Schultz Gallery, Berlin 2017). Most recently, he has been invited by the CMN (French National Monuments Center) to develop a site-specific project in the Kerylos Villa (2025).

He has also participated in group exhibitions at venues such as Fondation Leclerc (Cabinets de curiosité, 2019), Fondation Lambert (De leur temps, 2019), Fondation Fiminco (Point triple de la matière, 2017), Musée du Louvre (Voyages/Philippe Djian, 2015), IAC-Institut d'Art Contemporain de Villeurbanne (Pierres de visions, 2015).

He’s represented in the public collections of the Cnap (National Center for Visual Arts, FR), the Art and Archeology Library of Geneva, the Black Gold Museum (SA), as well as in private collections including those of Pierre-Alexis Dumas and the Francès Fondation (FR).

His first monograph, "Solve+Coagula" (2017) was finalist for the FILAF Prize "Best Art Book Published by a Gallery" (2017) and nominated for the ADAGP prize "Révélation Livre d'artiste" (2018).
